5 COMMON FASHION MISTAKES TO AVOID

Why make mistakes if you can avoid them? According to Socrates: “Intelligent individuals learn from everything and everyone; average people, from their experiences”. What category would you rather be in? We thought so … and that is why Personal Stylist Natalia Macri from Style-And-You wants to share with you Top 5 Common Fashion mistakes women make, so YOU can avoid it.

WEARING 20 YEARS OLDS’ OUTFITS IN YOUR 40s (OR LATER)

You are constantly evolving, advancing and developing. It goes with style too, it moves and changes, what suits you and you adore in your 20s isn’t getting down to business on your present day, 20 or 30 years after.

Common styling mistakes are:

  1. Staying with something you cherish because it was costly, you trust it suits you, or you are charmed you can even now fit in it.
  2. Staying with something because you are emotionally attached to it.

We’ve all got things in the closet, no matter how old we are, that helps us remember a period route back. Some ladies who love their garments get emotionally fixated, yet it’s vital to recognize when you are totally stuck in the past and wearing a look that has gone by (a long time ago) or you have outgrown.

BUYING CLOTHES FOR THE FUTURE

Have you bought clothes in a spree and in hope that they will fit and make you look the very best in the future? Perhaps you have a weight issue but are cheerful that you will get in shape, so you purchase garments smaller than your alleged size?
Never purchase something unreasonably little for you, just for the sake of a huge discount. If the length of your overcoat or coat sleeves is excessively short or long, and your jeans aren’t trimmed to precisely the correct length, it can make or break the entire look of the outfit and lead to utter disappointment.

A decent principle guideline – garments that are excessively tight, and garments that are excessively free, make you look larger, and sometimes (sorry, but it is true L) ugly.

TOO MUCH MAKE UP IS SO OUTDATED

Caked on, unreasonable and unnecessary make-up and cosmetics are never a decent (nor modern!) look, particularly when the foundation is all over and visible to the naked eye, awful orange or counterfeit tans, and hands with fake tans marks all over them. Lip liner in a lot darker shade than your lipstick is an absolute No-No (we did it in the late 90s, it is 2020 now).

Times of extreme make up are over (like 80s make up look inspired by Dynasty) while more natural make up look is in and this trend is not going anywhere soon.

NO ACCESSORY OR TOO MUCH OF IT

Not wearing any accessories whatsoever, most ladies increasingly excuse by saying “no time to accessorize”. These could be little things like a piece of jewelry, sunglasses, scarf, belt, bag, or bright heels, which can make a real difference and complete off your outfit. It will genuinely take you just an additional 30 seconds every morning to include that scarf, hoop, or accessory.

Too much of accessories can also spoil the look. Be guided by the rule of thumb “Less Is More” – Coco Chanel.

CHOOSING THE WRONG SHOES

Ensure your shoes are proper and appropriate for the occasion. Find shoes for yourself that are fashionable, yet comfortable, whether it is going for a walk, for a lunch catch-up, a date in the evening or a party.

To look and feel like a million dollars, it is a must that you wear not only the desired style and fashion statement, but also be yourself. Making educated fashion decisions that work for you, your body shape and your lifestyle will have you looking the best in comfort and in all the glamour.
